We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our friendly, award-winning team as Property  and Commercial Manager.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as Property and Commercial Manager will be to ensure the best possible environments are delivered for the residents who form the community of the Avery Healthcare Group. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of major refurbishment projects through feasibility, tender, planning and execution of the works.

Reporting to the Director of Developments, the responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Procurement and management of Avery Healthcare Group’s major refurbishments in the south.
  • Regular monitoring, reporting, conducting site visits and inspections at communities prior to, and throughout, the period of the works to ensure projects remain on programme, on budget, on time, are compliant and are delivered to Avery’s standards.
  • Working with the consultants in the preparation of Cost Plans, development budgets and the Employer’s Requirements documents.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety is planned, considered and executed in accordance with best practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Planning and phasing the works with consideration in minimising disruption to the communities and communicating this to the communities and colleagues. The provision of programmes and phasing plans to demonstrate how the works will be executed will be essential.

About You

The role requires a committed, diligent and motivated individual who is capable of working on their own initiative with a high level of autonomy as well as working collaboratively within the Avery Estates Team and with the company’s supply chain of professional consultants and contractors. 
The role requires excellent communication and organisation skills with a high level of commercial awareness. The individual will be tasked in ensuring the best possible environments are delivered for the residents who form the community of the Avery Healthcare Group. 
The individual will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of major refurbishment projects through feasibility, tender, planning and execution of the works.

Our ideal candidate must:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within refurbishment and construction. Experience in working in live environments would be an advantage.
  • A minimum of HNC in Building Studies, Project Management, or similar discipline along with professional membership with the CIOB or RICS.
  • Appropriate health and safety experience to ensure the Client’s duties under CDM are met and discharged and ensuring Health & Safety is planned, considered and executed in accordance with best practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Commercial and financial knowledge, awareness and experience is essential. The individual must be commercially aware with good negotiating skills and be capable of achieving and demonstrating best value outcomes.

Avery has a continuous and ongoing refurbishment and improvement programme across the company’s portfolio and are seeking an experienced, dynamic and proactive Project & Commercial Manager to join the Estates team to manage the major refurbishment projects across the company’s southern portfolio to maintain Avery’s standards of operating best in class care homes and retirement communities. 
The nature and value of projects varies with values up to £2m. The role involves working closely with the Communities, Operational Team and Estates Facilities Management Team. 
The southern region extends from the northern boundary of the M25 to the south coast. Most properties are location within easy reach of the M25.

A DBS Disclosure check, the cost of which will be met by Avery Healthcare.

Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
